Conservation For Kids is intended to be a resource for young people and adults to learn about our ecology and environment.
Our planet is an entity upon which there exist delicate systems that are carefully balanced to sustain the life within them. The Earth has been around long before life existed on it and would probably continue to exist long after all life has been extinguished from it. However, the ecosystems on Earth are delicately balanced to support the lives in them, including human lives. As humans, we have a responsibility to help these systems maintain their abilities to keep us, and other life forms, alive and leave the planet in better shape for future generations than when we entered it.
The main purpose for the teachings in Conservation For Kids is to teach environmental stewardship to younger generations and to help make the Earth a better place to live.
The term “conservation” applies to different areas that include wildlife conservation and energy conservation to name just a couple. This online resource focuses mainly on wildlife conservation as it pertains to native plant species and the dangers of them being overrun by invasive species that did not originate in the area. Such activity can upset the delicate balances already established to sustain life with drastic changes in the wildlife and overall environment. Conservation For Kids is intended to provide conservation tips for people to implement.
Even though we can theoretically define ecology and environment as two separate words with two separate meanings, they are actually interdependent on each other and changing one would most likely change the other. It is easier and more practical to influence our environment so we can implement simple practices to help keep our environment stable enough to sustain its existing ecosystems.
Conservation For Kids combines theory and practice, in the form of an actual project, to show how simple it can be to preserve both ecology and environment.
